Who says that the current National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (alias Samdaddy) is a member of the party? From the goings on recently, it would not be wrong for somebody to declare that Samdaddy is out to destroy the Party.
The Amaimo-born politician has not hidden his agenda towards the destruction of the party which he claims to be one of its founding members. Rightly or wrongly, his claim is not out of place because of his attachment to Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, who had remained his back-born in life. Going down memory lane, it was Chief Iwuanyawu who brought Samdaddy to political limelight starting from his days as a local government chairman in Ikeduru local government.
The Ahaejiejemba Ndigbo took him as his biological son, and made it a point of duty to make space for him in any available position in politics since 1999. It was through Chief Iwuanyanwu, that Samdaddy went to the State House of Assembly, as well as to the Senate where he represented Owerri zone through the instrumentality and outright support of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
In Igboland, it is a truism that “when a person points to where his/her good fortune begins that he/she would continue to make progress in life.” However, it looks as if in politics, politicians do not pay homage or respect to their mentors especially when they had once experienced political office. But one cannot lose sight or memory of where he took off from, otherwise, the gods of the land would punish such a person for throwing the ladder he used to climb to the tops.
The scenario of Samdaddy working against the party he claims to belong to is not far-fetched considering so many incidents involving him since 2018. He fell out from Ihedioha who made him Senator in 2015 due to arrogance; hence he could not go back to the red chamber in 2019. Instead of calming down to work with Ihedioha to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in subsequent elections, he continued to rub shoulders with him (Ihedioha) in contesting for the PDP leader in Imo State.
One cannot forget in a hurry the ‘jobman’ role. Samdaddy played during Okorocha’s regime against the PDP and Ihedioha’s interest. Samdaddy was the mole in PDP that sold out the party to the opposition. It is also regrettable that up till now he still plays such a subversive role even as the National Secretary of the party.
He didn’t stop there, even as the National secretary of the party, he had continued to subvert the fortunes of PDP in Imo. This is even clear judging from his body language and the foot soldiers he surrounded himself with. Who says that Samdaddy is not surreptitiously working for the easy grab of the party by the incumbent governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma whose craze for second term is leading him to do so many things?
Therefore, it is high time that Samdaddy and his likes are boldly shown the way out of the party because he plays a dual role in the party; as a mole, a spoiler, as well as a sincere party man. Going by his anti-party activity, it is very obvious that Samdaddy does not want PDP to succeed in Imo State. His recent activities, including the inauguration of his Governorship campaign outfit, the Divine Mandate Movement (DMM), the convergence of his campaign group last weekend to herald his declaration, etc point to the fact that he is not interested in the progress of the party.
It is so obvious that even if PDP chooses Samdaddy as her governorship candidate in the 2024 governorship election in Imo State, he would have a very slim chance of winning. The odds against this are so many.
In my subsequent analysis, I will expatiate this claim.
