On Sunday, an unnamed gang assaulted the Inyi Divisional Police Station in Enugu State's Oji River Local Government Area and killed two people in the process.
The police station was also set on fire by the assailants. Our correspondent was informed by a source that the attackers rode aboard two vehicles.
They were estimated to number six and fired erratically, sparking a stampede.
An eyewitness claimed, "They terrified everyone, before lighting the building on fire." He also mentioned that one of the victims was a civilian who had arrived at the station to file a complaint, rather than a police officer. A police officer, according to the source, is the second.
Police have not yet verified the attack.
