Sir Basil Maduka who recently announced his intention to contest for Governor in the November, 2023 Imo State Guber election on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), was Wednesday, 28th December, 2022 honoured with Award by his Akpodim Community for his immense contributions to the Community, human capital development and uncommon humility.
The Award took place at the Colloquium and Award session for Oji Ezinihitte (Akpodim 2023), held at Akpodim Hall, Nkwo Epekele. The event precedes Oji Ezinihitte Cultural Festival which takes place on January 1st every year and is rotated amongst the 13 ancient towns in order of seniority. They are Oboama na Umunama, Ife na Owutu, Chokoneze, Ihitte, Akpodim, Amumara, Eziudo, Itu, Okpofe, Ezeagbogu, Udo, Obizi and Onicha.
The Colloquium which featured lectures by two intellectual giants on Igbo Language Proficiency, Identity Formation: Psychological Wellbeing of Igbo Youths by Prof. Chikwe Agbakwuru of the University of Port Harcourt (Dept. of Counseling Psychology) and
A Celebration of Unity in love by Rev. Fr. Dr. Oliver Onwubiko.
The occasion was also used to unveil Oji Ezinihitte (Akpodim 2023) "Sticker" by Chief Barr. Samuel Nnabugwu (Chairman of Protocol and Publicity Committee) of the January 1st 2023 event.
The Chairman of the Colloquium and Award Session for Oji Ezinihitte (Akpodim 2023) was Chief Barr. Vita Ugboaja.
