Umuopara village in Uburu Ekwe Autonomous Community, in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, was agog on Tuesday , January 10, 2023, as the Labour Party’s frontline senatorial candidate for Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu Zone), Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize- Chukwu alongside the retinue of his colorful entourage officially flagged -off the construction of a 2.5km road project in Isu LGA; after grading the dilapidated and most inaccessible road that has cut the community off from her neighbouring villages; Ibeoma Ekwe, Ebenato Ekwe and Okoroduru Ekwe Autonomous communities linking them to the Njaba River.

It was gathered from community source and those present at the project site during the road construction flag- off that a populated Ekwe community in Isu LGA is the most neglected and abandoned in Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba Federal Constituency, yet produces the highest number of votes which public office seekers and political gladiators alike have always used to win their elections in every electioneering circle.

Speaking after the official flag-off of the road construction, a highly cerebral and performance -driven leading senatorial candidate of Labour Party in the February 25, 2023 general elections, Chief Charles Ahize, commended Hon. Lawrence Onyewuchi (Ajuntu), for drawing his attention to the sorry -state of the Ekwe dilapidated road, while condemning the level of negligence by both past and present elected members of the National Assembly (Senators and members of House of Representatives); who have come back to seek the support of the same people they mischievously neglected despite the huge allocation of constituency project funds and jumbo salaries they received.

Chief Charles Ahize , however, promised to establish skills acquisition centres across the three federal constituencies in Orlu senatorial zone through robust, effective and people -oriented representation as the youths would be at the epicenter of his legislative outing.

The Senatorial hopeful, Charles Ahize, a thoroughbred established entrepreneur maintained that productive engagement of the youth population would go a long way in reducing the high crime rate and insecurity in Orlu zone.

A former executive chairman of Isu local government area, Hon. Chief Nwadike Chikezie , used the opportunity the ceremony had created to eulogize the sense of call to duty as demonstrated by Chief Charles Ahize, whose interventionist approach addressed the over 100 years challenge of impassable road network in Uburu Ekwe Autonomous Community that had separated it from neighbouring towns and villages thereby, making life so diffcult for the villagers.

During his brief remarks, Chief Lawrence Onyewuchi; a critical leader and strategic stakeholder of the Labour Party in Isu LGA, didn’t spare a moment to celebrate the Orlu senatorial hopeful, Chief Charles Ahize, for matching his words with action after making a passionate appeal to him for intervention, describing him as a man of strong character from whose heart flows the milk of human kindness and who is also willing to work for Orlu people beyond politics; going by his track records as a humanist, philanthropist and avowed advocate for social justice , equity and fairness, praying God to see him through with the assurances of the good people of Isu LGA.

Mr. Steven Emeremu, Presidential General of Uburu-Ekwe Autonomous Community alongside an opinion moulder and leader of thoughts in the community, High Chief Moses Uzodimma took turns to commend Chief Charles Ahize for his timely intervention in the grading and flag -off of the road construction, promising to pay him back with their votes in the February 25, 2033 general elections.
