Imo: Voters Express Disappointment Over Late Arrival Of INEC Officials, Materials

 



Enthusiastic voters at the polling units across Imo State have expressed disappointed in respect of late arrival of INEC Officials and materials at the various centres.


Electorate trooped out in their large numbers and early enough too but we're disappointed when uptil 12 noon most of the voting units were yet to get materials.


In Amakohia primary, Akwuakuma Girls Secondary school and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, voters as at 11.40 am were seen getting worried and wondering what had kept the officials and materials out of site.


In Aladinma Ward 013, Customs Quarters Ward 016, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, prospective voters expressed astonishment and displeasure   over the absence of INEC officials and security operatives at the centre.


Chukwuma  Chibueze, a voter, highlighted that to whom much is given, much is expected and urged INEC to improve it's services, so as to restore the confidence of the citizens.


When our Correspondent visited  Ward 003, Afor Egbu, Owerri North, at 8:55am, the voter turnout was impressive,  however, INEC Officials and security operatives  were no where to be found.
 

Our correspondent learnt that voters at the Emekuku ward 001 Owerri North Local Government were angry and dissatisfied since there were no INEC representatives and security operatives in sight.


The same scanario played out  at Emekuku Ward 003, around 9 .30am, there was  high turnout of voters, but the absence of security operatives and INEC officials was also noticed.


Same with Aladinma Ward 013, and Customs Quarters Ward 016, there was a huge presence of voters, but the absence of INEC officials and security at 9:59am.


At Afor Orogwe Ward 006 Owerri West LGA, 10 :20am, there was remarkable  turnout of voters, the presence of security operatives,  however, INEC officials yet to arrive the scene.


At Nkaramoche Ihiagwa, Ward 6 PU 014 with 750 valid voters, and Anya Kindred  Nkaramoche Ihiagwa, with 346 valid registration with polling unit 015; there was no INEC official and security operatives. 


The situation in other areas visited, at Azuzii ward 005 polling unit and Umushioke Village, Booth 21 was quite impressive,  as high turnout of voters; security operatives and INEC officials were seen.


Ebere Uzondu, a voter,  called on INEC to display professionalism and up their game ,so as to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses. He called on the government to show concern and call INEC to order.
