History was made last early this week, as a frontline
governorship aspirant of the labour Party (LP), in Imo State, Sir Basil Maduka
emerged as the first governorship aspirant in the State to collect and submit
his governorship Expression of Interest form and Nomination Form for Imo State
governorship election in November 11, 2023 at the Labour Party national
secretariat, Abuja.
Speaking after the submission of the forms, Sir Maduka
expressed gratitude to the National Chairman of the party, Barr Julius Abure for
assuring him of a level playing ground for the conduct of the primaries which
would come in a few months’ time.
According him, I want to use to opportunity to appreciate you and members of the national executive council (NEC) for assuring us of a level-playing ground for all members.”I have confidence in you and the party and wish to state that we shall all work together to ensure victory for our party at all levels.”
In his responds, the national chairman of labour Party, Barr.
Abure thanked Sir Basil Maduka for being the first governorship aspirant in Imo
State to pick expression of interest form, the Nomination Form, filled them and
returned to the secretariat for onward processing.
“It is on record that you are the first to pay all the fees,
and submitted all the necessary forms for the governorship primaries for Imo
State governorship election coming later in the year. I wish you the best of luck.
And I want to assure you of a level playing field, adding “we have learnt from
history that the reason other political parties have failed particularly, the
APC and PDP is because they have no internal party democracy and for us in
Labour Party, I assure all our aspirants that there will be a level playing
field, even though it is going to be very competitive, the losers would gladly be
happy. Thank you and I wish you well.”
