Chief Humphrey Anumudu, an aspirant for the ticket of the Labour Party in the upcoming governorship election in Imo State has been found dead in his Lagos house.
Chief Anumudu, who was a lawyer until his death, was a native of Obilubi, Mbieri in Mbaitoli local government of Imo state.
He was the younger brother to late socialite, auto dealer and founder of Globe Motors, Willie Anumudu who died in April 2020 from Covid1 9 complications.
The late Anumudu was reportedly found dead in his Lagos house in yet to be unravelled circumstances.
The late politician had paid the sum of N25 million for Labour Party’s Governorship form ahead of election on November 11, 2023.
Prior to the purchase of the Guber form, he had in December last year floated campaign vehicles in preparation for the Guber ticket.
This isn’t the first time the late Anumudu will contest the gubernatorial election in Imo State. He had contested in 2019 under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
The late Anumudu was a perennial Guber contestant as he had remained resolute to govern the State since 1999.
Anumudu will be the second prominent death the Labour party has suffered since the election season began.
The first was Oyibo Chukwu, a former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Chairman, Enugu State chapter and Enugu East Senatorial Candidate, who was assassinated three days to the presidential and National Assembly election.
He was eventually replaced by his younger brother, Kelvin, who emerged victorious in the polls
