Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima have been few hours ago sworn in President and Vice President of Nigeria.
They were declared president and vice president of Nigeria after they both took the oath of office to officially assume the role of the 16th President and Vice President of Nigeria.
The solemn ceremony was presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kayode Ariowola.
He said: “I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, do solemnly swear that I will not allow my personal interests to influence my official conduct or decisions… So help me, God.
Earlier, Senator Kashim Shettima was the first to take oath of office to officially assume the role of Vice President of Nigeria administered on him by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kayode Ariowola.
Recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared President Tinubu winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election having secured the highest number of votes to emerge victorious in that election.
Notable contenders of the presidential election include Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
However, it is worth noting that Atiku and Obi have chosen to challenge Tinubu’s triumph by contesting the results at the Presidential Election Tribunal.
Arrival At Eagle Square
The President-elect, Bola Tinubu, arrived at the Eagles Square for his inauguration accompanied by a team of security personnel and amidst enthusiastic cheers from his supporters, Tinubu made his way to the venue.
The venue of the inauguration, Eagles Square, was adorned with national flags and decorations.
Prominent figures from political, social, and business spheres were present, include former heads of State, Goodluck Jonathan.
