Desirous to have Mazi Nnamdi Kanu released soonest, Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has taken it upon himself to have it as top on the agenda as he made the first visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Aso Rock.
His visit among other issues were centered on the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the self-proclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
At the private meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, Governor Mbah urged the President to carefully consider extending a hand of fellowship to the people of the South-East region.
Governor Mbah emphasised that following a series of favourable court rulings in Kanu’s prosecution, national healing would ensue if Kanu is released.
He expressed optimism that the President would give serious consideration to this request, acknowledging the ongoing healing efforts initiated by the President himself.
In addition to the issue of Kanu’s release, Governor Mbah also highlighted the need for the Federal Government’s assistance in harnessing the abundant mineral resources in Enugu State for the benefit of its people.
