Vladimir Putin has raised fears of World War III by threatening to get Wagner troops to invade important land between Poland and Lithuania.
The Russian tyrant intends to use the Wagner mercenary group to strike in a location that has been described as NATO's "weakest link".
A top Russian parliamentarian claimed on state television that Wagner troops would leave Belarus and strike within a "matter of hours" on the 60-mile Suwalki Corridor, which has vital strategic importance for both NATO and the European Union.
If Moscow managed to gain control of the corridor, a land link would be created between Belarus and Kaliningrad - the main place of Putin's baltic fleet.
Andrey Kartapolov, an MP and chairman of the Russian parliament's defence committee, said: "It is clear that Wagner (mercenary army) went to Belarus to train the Belarusian armed forces.
"(But) not only, and not so much. There is such a place as the Suwalki Corridor.
"Should anything happen, we need this Suwalki Corridor very much...
"A strike force (based in Wagner forces in Belarus) is ready to take this corridor in a matter of hours."
Experts have warned that the move could trigger NATO's clause 5 and put the military alliance on a collision course with Russia.
