The courtesy visit to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Friday, 11
August, 2023 has finally brought peace and unity by collapsing the aggrieved
group into the formidable one and only Iriji Mbaise 2023 Central Planning
Committee led by Ezeji Prof. T. Uzodinma Nwala.
The visit witnessed representatives from members of the
Central Planning Committee comprises of Ezuruezu Mbaise, Ndi Eze Mbaise, Ndi
Ezeji Mbaise and Sole Administrators of Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise and
Ezinihitte Mbaise local government councils.
After waiting for a long time, the governor finally saw his
august visitors at his private conference room. It was an opportunity to
formally invite the Governor to personally grace this year’s annual Iriji
Mbaise ceremony.
The introduction of the delegation which was done by the
Chairman, Media/Publicity Sub-committee of Iriji Mbaise 2023 Central Planning
Committee, Sir Amby Uneze, the Leader of the delegation and Chairman of the
planning committee, Ezeji Prof T. Uzodinma Nwala told the governor why we came
for the visit. He stressed that it was to extend the invitation
personally to him.
Some prominent people in the delegation spoke later such as
the Sole administrator of Aboh Mbaise, Barr. (Mrs.) Ogechi Njoku-Ehirim, HRH,
Eze Marcillinus Nwaturuocha, Chairman of Council of Traditional Rulers in Aboh
Mbaise who spoke on behalf of his counterparts from Ahiazu, HRH, Eze Sabby
Nwaneche, and HRH, Eze Ossy Nwokocha of Ezinihitte, as well as Chief
Christogonus Ugochukwu Okoro (Agbara) and of course, Barr. Louis Alozie (SAN).
However, present at the visit was the Chairman of Owerri
Zonal Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH, Eze David Akujobi Osuagwu of Awaka, who also told
the governor the need to make peace in Mbaise over the traditional and cultural
annual Iriji Mbaise.
In his response, the governor praised Mbaise people for the
way they had over the years cherished their rich national culture. He
counselled on peace and togetherness, and urged the splinter group (Olu Oha) to
collapse her structure with the organizing committee led by Prof. Nwala.
The highlight of the visit was the short speech made by Chief
Perry Opara who along Commissioner for Homeland Security, Dr. Ugorji O. Ugorji
agreed to work with the main Iriji Mbaise 2023 Central Planning Committee for a
resounding success.
The governor promised to personally attend this year's Annual
Iriji Mbaise National Cultural Festival and assured of adequate security before
and after the ceremony.
Recall that the annual Iriji Mbaise is one of the most
celebrated and cultural events registered in the annual calendar of cultural
festivals in the country and should be revered.
The delegation include the Secretary of this year’s Iriji
Mbaise Committee, Dr. Desmond Chikwe, the three Solads including Dr. Chukwuma
Ojukwu of Ezinihitte Mbaise and his counterpart from Ahiazu Mbaise, Mr. Tony
Anakani, President of Ezeji, Eeji Gregory Ikeagwu, Barr. (Mrs) Chilaka Igidi,
SA on Avition to the governor, Prince Ikem Unegbu, among others.
