Renowned Sokoto-based Islamic Cleric Asks "Why Military Has Not Bombed South, East By 'Mistake' As In North?"

A renowned Islamic scholar based in Sokoto, Sheikh Bello Yabo, has expressed concerns over the constant bombing of innocent citizens in the north by the military.

The Islamic cleric stated this while reacting to the bombing of Maulud celebrants in Tudun Biri village of Kaduna State by the military on Sunday.

In a viral video clip posted on social media, Sheikh Yabo dismissed the army’s claim that it was a mistake.

The Islamic scholar claimed that the military was yet to make such mistake in the southern or eastern parts of the country.

“It was not the first time the bombs were dropped on innocent people by security agencies, and they will claim it was a mistake,” he said.

“They once targeted IDPs in Borno. Same in Yobe, they also dropped a bomb in Nasarawa, and now it happened in Kaduna.

“Till date, the military has not made any error bombing in southern or eastern parts of this country. It always happens in the north because of our lack of unity.

“North is bleeding, bandits kill us, hunger kills us, and the military that are supposed to protect us are also killing us. This is too much for us. Who do we report to if not Allah, and we are telling him to have mercy on us and protect us,” he said.

Sheikh Yabo also claimed that the killings persisted because the northern leaders were not united due to personal interests.

  1. A United country can never have a leader make such a comment. Sometimes one is forced to ask the essence or sincerity of the so called unity being imposed on the country. How can a religious leader make such a hate speech and be allowed to go Scott free in a country where hate speech is a crime?
So this religious leader would be satisfied if this mishap took place in the Southern or Eastern part of the country? It is hightime we stopped all these pretences and face the truth. The hatred of the East and the South by the North is becoming something else.
During Buhari's tenure, he did not hide his £isdain for the South, especially the South East. This is why he preferred citing projects in Niger than in the South. This issue should be settled before it gets out of hand. It will not augu= well for the country should other parts of the country start exhibiting such hatred.
