AFCON 2023: All Quarter-final Matches Confirmed [Full list], As Results Of Drug Tests For Osimhen Proves Negative, Two Super Eagles Players Too


All the quarter-final fixtures for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been confirmed.


This follows the completion of the Round of 16 stage on Tuesday night.


Mali booked their spot with a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso.


Edmond Tapsoba’s early own goal and Lassie Sinayoko’s calm finish gave Mali a 2-0 lead, before Bertrand Traore pulled one back from the penalty spot.


South Africa then shocked tournament favourites Morocco 2-0.


Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena scored for the Bafana Bafana as they recorded a famous win.


Mali will now take on Ivory Coast, while South Africa will play Cape Verde.


In the other last-eight fixtures, Nigeria take on Angola and Guinea face DR Congo.


AFCON: Results of drug tests for Osimhen, two Super Eagles players confirmed


The results of the drug tests conducted on three Super Eagles players at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have come back negative.


The squad members that were tested are striker Victor Osimhen, forward Ademola Lookman and captain William Troost-Ekong.


News of the random tests was reported after Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 in a Round of 16 fixture.


Lookman scored twice in that encounter to send the Eagles into the quarter-finals, where they will play Angola on Friday.


Osimhen and Troost-Ekong also one one goal each so far in the tournament.


All the players are expected to be available for selection against the Palancas Negras.
