The 2023 President candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, on Friday, stormed Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to cheer on the Nigerian team as they clashed with Angola in the quarter-final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Mr Obi, who was clad in a customized jersey, set tongues wagging during and after the quarter-final match that saw Nigeria clinch victory against Angola.
The inscription, ‘Authentic,’ could be clearly seen at the back of Mr Obi’s jersey, leaving many Nigerians hailing him as the country’s ‘authentic’ President.
While many posited that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party has a way of trolling the present day government of Nigeria, some commenters ridiculed President Bola Tinubu who has been accused of rigging last year’s general election against Mr Obi.
The Super Eagles subsequently advanced to the semifinals of the AFCON tournament after a well-deserved 1-0 victory over the Palancas Negras of Angola.
Ademola Lookman secured the win for Nigeria at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
However, photos of Mr Obi celebrating enthusiastically when the Super Eagles won the game have trended online.
Also present at the stadium were principal officers of the National Assembly who stormed Abidjan to cheer on the Nigerian team.
