The management of LP Consult and Projects Limited has clarified the allegation that the Company charges N20,000 per truck that made use of their facilities at Onne Port, but insisted that what they collect is N10,000 only at the point of entry.
The Managing Director of LP Consult and Project Limited, Lawrence Promise told our Correspondent on Telephone that his company does not extort illegal charges from truck drivers entering the port other than the mandatory N10,000 parking fees which is valid for 7 days.
According to him, it has come to our attention that there have been misunderstandings regarding the fees and procedures involved in utilizing our facilities. LP Consult and Projects Limited operates in compliance with the regulations set forth by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and does not engage in any form of extortion.
He said, "LP CONSULT is not in anyway extorting N20,000 from Truck Drivers. What we collect is N10,000 for services rendered to Truck Drivers and it is Trucks carrying Export that pays. The Trucks carrying or dropping empty containers do not pay anything.
"No Truck Driver pay for Ticket at the point of exit after paying N10,000 at the point of entering the park. It is only Trucks that spent two to seven days in the park facility that pays at the point of exit when they want to go to load after using the facility. The Ticket issued at the point of entrance is valid for 7 days.
"The second Ticket the Drivers are claiming that is been extorted from them is from the Maritime Workers Union Ticket where all the Drivers belong.
The Managing Director further maintained that "we would like to clarify that LP Consult and Projects Limited is not collecting N20,000 per truck for the use of our facilities. The correct amount being charged is N10,000 per truck, both at the entrance and exit gates.
"We assure you that LP Consult and Projects Limited remains committed to providing transparent and fair services to all our clients. We value our relationship with NEVEAH LIMITED and strive to address any concerns or discrepancies promptly.
"Should you require any further clarification or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter," he concluded.
