Gladdened by the ingenuity of the Igbo Journalists Association (IJA), the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has announced the affiliation of the (IJA), as an affiliate member of the apex body.
This was disclosed on Thursday by the President General of the body, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, when the national executive of the association led by the national coordinator, Amby Uneze, accompanied by a member of the executive/the Abia State Coordinator, Charles Ogugbuaja, among others visited him in his office in Owerri, capital of Imo State.
Iwuanyanwu, said: "I want to tell you today that from today, your association, IJA, is an affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World wide. In our meetings and programmes, your body will be involved in our meetings and programmes."
He continued: "We are building headquarters of Ohanaeze in Enugu. The governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Peter Mbah, provided the land. We are greatful to him. I am working towards bringing Igbos to status as industrious people. You people are going to play a part."
In his speech, the national coordinator of the body, Uneze, warned all the journalists from Igbo to stop either attributing the status of the apex Igbo body to a discenting or factional voice, maintaining that Iwuanyanwu is the only recognized President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World wide.
Uneze, warned that any one found culpable would face the sanction.
He said: "Before I end this address, we the IJA want to warn any journalist of Igbo extraction to stop forthwith to bastardize the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. Soon we will devise a method of punishing our colleagues who ignore this resolution. It is hereby resolved that the one and only Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is led by our father, the Ahaejiagamba of Igboland, Chief (Dr) E.C. Iwuanyanwu MFR. Therefore, any journalist giving voice or credence to another amorphous body will be black listed as agent of destabilization of Igboland."
The president general further advised Igbo Journalists to report factual stories in order to give credence to their information.
