The economic hardship and hunger experienced by Nigerians under the present leadership of President Bola Tinubu seems unabated due to policy somersault.
Disturbed by the scenario, the General Overseer of the Charismatic Renewal Ministries (CRM) Inc., Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu, said that he would not offer any advice to President Tinubu because he has strong feeling that he does not listen to such advice.
Ilechukwu, whose ministry has over 700 branches in the world; also, the National Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), explained his feelings at the weekend during the celebration of his 70th birthday and a public presentation of his book, "In Conversation with Myself," held at three locations (CRM church, Rockview Hotels, and Swiss International Hotel, all in Owerri, Imo State.
Accompanied by his wife, Adeola, the cleric responded when asked if he had any advice to give President Bola Tinubu: "I don't have any advice. He wouldn't listen to me. You don't talk to an ear that won't listen."
He chose to direct his advice to Nigerians in the following words: "My advice to Nigerians is continue to hold on to God, and do your best, pray as much as you can and work hard and achieve the success you need to stay afloat in this turbulent season we are going through. It is a hard time for Nigerians. We need prayers to survive. We also, need hard work. Whatever you find yourself, do it with all your heart. If you are a Journalist, do it better, no false reportage. If everybody sit up, Nigeria will be better."
He opined that the level of hardship requires super natural efforts, stressing: "The hardship we are going through today, power alone cannot sustain you. You need super natural powers and that's what prayer guarrantees. Don't amplify the voice of those who say that Nigerians prays too much."
In the event attended by the National President of the PFN, Dr. Francis Wale Oke, some officials of the religious leaders, he expressed optimism that Nigerians would surmount the hardship with sustained prayers.
In his sermon, the National President of the PFN, Oke, described Ilechukwu, as a religious man guided by intelligence, humility and strong commitment to upright life, expressing hope that he would celebrate his 120th birthday.
In the public presentation of his book; and a leadership lecture series held at Rockview, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ngozi Olehi, expressed disgust with the poor leadership Nigerians are witnessing, advising that the country required to come out from ashes.
"We need to rise from the ashes we have gotten to," Olehi maintained.
Other prominent guests including Church leaders and academics such as Professors Bernard Nwoke and Protus Uzoma, called for entrenchment of strong institutions with good leadership, advising that there should be a judicial system to support democracy.
