The High Court has issued a judgment that bans the Inspector General of Police and all members of the Nigeria Police Force from applying or enforcing the tinted glass permit policy on cars throughout Nigeria.
The court in suit No. HOW/FHR/M/31/2025 of the Orerokpe Judicial Division of Delta State order containing this judgment was given on Wednesday, 17th December, 2025.
With this judgment, the High Court has effectively also stopped the police anywhere in Nigeria from stopping, arresting or demanding any tint permit from any Nigerian citizen, driver or car owner.
The order read in part "an order of interim injunction restraining the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force, their officers, men, agents, privies and/or contractors from implementing/enforcing and/or further implementing/enforcing the tinted glass permit policy set to commence on the 2nd of January, 2026 pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application filed in the suit."
