Good News As Ibeto Seaport and Terminal Begins Full Maritime Operations In Port Harcourt

The Ibeto Seaport and Terminal has resumed full maritime operations, receiving and berthing a vessel yesterday.

The seaport and terminal situated at 115 Odoh Ibeto Road, Off Reclamation Road, Bundu Ama, Port Harcourt, Rivers, received and berthed the MV Ben 1 vessel, announcing its readiness to contribute to Nigeria’s maritime economy.

The management of the indigenous seaport announced the milestone yesterday, reiterating the facility’s commitment to become a force to be reckoned with in Nigerian trade.

”We are pleased to announce the successful arrival and berthing of MV BEN1 at Ibeto Seaport and Terminal, reinforcing our position as a growing hub for efficient maritime logistics and port operations in Nigeria,” says Ibeto Seaport management.

”This operation reflects our ongoing commitment to providing safe, timely, and professionally managed port services-supporting bulk cargo movements and enhancing supply chain reliability for our clients and partners,” it added.

Ibeto Seaport and Terminal is a product of a strategic partnership between Ibeto Group, West Africa Container Terminals (WACT), and Max Shipping Services. The trio launched a seamless barge shuttle service connecting Onne-Port Harcourt for efficient container transfers—priced at ₦480,000 for 20ft and ₦693,000 for 40ft units.

The Ibeto Seaport and Terminal reportedly pulled in N4.24 billion in its inaugural months,  up 42.5% month-on-month. The figures highlight its business viability and its potential as a major source of revenue for the Nigerian government through taxes.

The Seaport and terminal offer in-cargo storage, logistics, and terminal operations, easing congestion at major ports like Onne and Apapa.

The project stems from prolonged agitation for the opening up of Seaports in the southern part of the country, diversifying Nigeria’s maritime sector, and ensuring equitable distribution of development across all parts of the country.

The seaport is the latest project by the Ibeto group, founded and chaired by the foremost industrialist, Dr. Cletus Madubugwu Ibeto, known nationwide for his earlier foray into the cement business.
