Among the candidates generating attention is Prince Alex Mbata, popularly known as PAM PAM, whose profile as an administrator, entrepreneur, and community advocate has sparked conversations about suitability, readiness, and vision for the Imo North senatorial future.

He championed the most formidable empowerment in the history of Imo State in initiatives where the people of Owerri senatorial zone were provided with incentives to be self-employed, improve on their skills and trade, and others given the opportunity to start businesses of their choice. That was the mother-of-all empowerment. Such magnanimity of this man has not been equaled by any politician or businessman in the state.
The Ndubisi Kanu Square, former Hero’s Square witnessed the best of engagement in the name of empowerment for youths, women and all cadre of people from the nine local government areas of Owerri senatorial zone. In the realm of public service, and administration, Mbata can have it as the man who “knows the road” and can champion larger development of the zone if he gets the opportunity. His admirers argue that his hands-on experience navigating complex governance structures positions him to translate broad policy goals into actionable senatorial work.
Owerri Zone faces a set of opportunities and challenges - economic diversification, value-chain development, security, and educational empowerment among them, and it is very obvious that going by his antecedent, Prince Mbata is committed to tackle some of the challenges as well as improving on the opportunities to make the zone thrive again. In his avowed determination to make an impact, his inclusive mindset gears towards developing partnerships that can mobilize resources for smallholders, artisans, and local enterprises to develop. Because he knows the way, hence it would be his usual intention to fly beyond limit.
It is also in the interest of the people to elect someone as their senator who understands the local economy’s rhythms and can craft legislation and secure federal support that aligns with the district’s unique needs. For Mbata, this translates into a platform centered on job creation, infrastructure maintenance, and investment in human capital which is not new to him.

Again, Prince Mbata’s approach can prioritize partnerships with state and local government, business stakeholders, and civil society to ensure that policies are practical, locally owned, and sustainable. These aspects have been lacking previously.
In any political contest, trust remains a central issue. Prince Mbata’s reputation for accountability, transparency, and responsiveness to constituents can be an advantage. He is liquid and therefore, has the slim quest to amass public funds. Judging from his noble background as a successful business entrepreneur, his major interest would be to render service to the people of Owerri senatorial zone.
Owerri Zone’s electoral fortunes are influenced by party dynamics, therefore, his cynosure with people can turn into a coalition-building, making way for all stakeholders to give him support. However, his path to the Senate in 2027 would hinge on his party affiliation, coupled with the fact that in 2023 he was the fly bearer of the running All Progressives Congress (APC), and if he is lucky to emerge as their candidate in 2027 he would be a candidate to beat. His cordial affiliation with building broad-based coalitions with party leaders, traditional institutions, and civil society groups; the youths and women would indeed be an added advantage to him.
