BREAKING: APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Calls For Wike’s Resignation

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to resign from his position over alleged interference in the internal affairs of the APC, particularly in Rivers State.

Basiru’s call follows Wike’s public warning asking him to “leave Rivers State alone,” alongside allegations that some APC leaders were scrambling for an alleged ₦600 billion largesse in the state.

In a strongly worded statement, Basiru described Wike’s remarks as “uncouth” and stressed that Wike is not a member of the APC and therefore lacks the standing to meddle in the party’s affairs. He maintained that governors remain the leaders of the party in their respective states and that his comments were in defense of party structure and order.

Basiru rejected the corruption allegations, describing them as cheap blackmail, and challenged Wike to provide proof or face legal action. He also dismissed Wike’s veiled threats, insisting that political intimidation would not deter him.

The APC scribe further noted that supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not translate to APC membership, warning that attempts to import PDP-style politics into the APC would not be tolerated.

He concluded by stating that it is inappropriate for a minister serving in an APC-led government to use his office to create confusion within the party, adding that the honourable step for Wike is to resign his appointment.
