The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Owerri Senatorial zone, Prince Alex Mbata has dedicated his victory at the party's primaries on Monday, 18th May, 2026 to the good people of the zone, expressing that it was a collective victory and not a personal one.
Prince Mbata also extended his deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to his brothers and sisters who were in the same race but found him worthy to fly the flag of the party at the main election by January 2027.
In a press release signed by Prince Alex Mbata Media Aide, Sir Amby Uneze, said that Mbata who was the 2023 senatorial candidate of the party felt humbled by the show of solidarity given to him and promised to carry all people of Owerri zone along in the quest to reposition the zone by showing capacity and flavour in the Senate.
He said, "this victory is for Owerri Senatorial zone. It is for all men, women and youth of our zone. By the Grace of God, all of us will collectively benefit from the outcome. We are set to bring capacity to the Senate and we promise not to disappoint our zone.
While showing appreciate to his co-contestants Mbata said, "I, Prince Dr. Alex Mbata, extend my deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to my distinguished brothers and sister in the Owerri Zone Senatorial race; Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere Michael, Dr. Obinna Ibe, Dr. Chijioke Kaduru, Hon. Osita Okpara and Dr. Chetachi Nwoga -Ecton for their patriotic and statesmanlike decision to unanimously withdraw from the contest for my humble self in the collective interest of our great party and the continued stability of Owerri Zone.
"Your rare demonstration of political maturity, uncommon sacrifice, and commitment to party cohesion stands as a defining moment in our democratic journey. In an era where personal ambition often supersedes collective progress, your decision reflects an elevated sense of responsibility, leadership, and loyalty to the ideals and vision of our great party.
"As rightly captured in the timeless words of Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” Today, we have collectively chosen the path of unity over division, consensus over conflict, and strategic alignment over unnecessary political fragmentation.
