African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has intensified his criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s prolonged absence from Nigeria, claiming that he knows the President’s whereabouts and alleging that Tinubu is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
Speaking to journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, September 28, Sowore said his party had decided to take legal action over the President’s continued absence and would ask the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against him.
“I know where he is. He’s in the hospital. So, I guess when he is discharged, he will return,” Sowore said.
He further disclosed that the AAC was preparing to file a case at the Federal High Court, while also calling on the National Assembly to begin proceedings against the President.
Sowore’s comments come amid growing political debate over Tinubu’s prolonged stay outside Nigeria. The Presidency has maintained that the President is on an extended leave in Europe while continuing to perform his official duties remotely, and reports indicate that he is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, September 29.
Sowore, however, disputes the official explanation for Tinubu’s absence and has repeatedly alleged that the President is receiving medical treatment abroad. He previously claimed that Tinubu was receiving treatment in France, a claim that was not independently established by the reports reviewed.
