Hearts and Roses Cancer Advocacy Foundation, a non- governmental organization recently took a sensitization awareness on Cancer-free Nigeria by 2030 to Owerri Archdiocesan priests at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri.
The initiator and CEO of the Foundation, Dr. Chinomso Patricia Dozie whose devotion to combating cancer through awareness creation, prevention and improved treatment access took her ongoing outfit’s campaign to the Clergy in the Owerri Archdiocese.
The illuminating interactive session focused on various variants of cancer and identifying early detection and treatment.
Dr Dozie, who is also an Associate Professor at Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) shared valuable insights on maintaining healthy lifestyles, which are key to cancer prevention.
Responding to the enriching revelations availed to the priests by Dr. Dozie and her foundation team, the elated Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Lucius Ugorji commended the rich knowledge unveiled to the priests by the lecture. He enjoined the Foundation to sustain the traction of enlightenment to stem ignorance and the seemingly unmentionable myth attached to the disease.
The Cancer-free Nigeria 2030 initiative is a coordinated national effort to combat cancer in Nigeria with the goal of increasing the number of people receiving appropriate cancer treatment from 65% to 80% by the year 2030. The foundation’s efforts are part of the concerted national concern to make significant impact in reducing cancer cases and improving treatment.
