Wife Of FUTO VC, Dr. Dozie, Urges Anti-Cancer Lifestyle At Foundation's Third Anniversary

The Chief Executive Officer of Hearts and Roses Cancer Advocacy Foundation, Dr. Chinonso Pat Dozie, has called on stakeholders in healthcare and public welfare to intensify cancer sensitization by promoting lifestyles and practices that help prevent the disease.


Dr. Dozie, who is the wife of the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Ikechukwu Dozie, made the call at an interactive session held in Owerri to mark the Foundation's third anniversary. The event was themed "Pink October."



She unveiled the Foundation's activities for the month, which focus on raising awareness of breast cancer. They include free mammogram screening for 100 women in Imo State, a "Walk Away Cancer" road walk scheduled for 17 October, and continuous advocacy and community enlightenment at various venues and centres in the state and beyond.


The session was led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. C.C. Ogueke, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Development and Innovation), Prof. E. B. Etuk, both of FUTO. They commended the Foundation for its commitment to breaking the silence and stigma surrounding cancer and making it a subject of open public conversation.


The Director of the FUTO Medical Centre, Dr. Kelechi Osuagwu, and the Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Dr. J. Ohiri, also spoke on the treatment process for cancer. They urged everyone to adopt healthy eating habits and lifestyles as safeguards against the disease.


Dignitaries at the anniversary included Rev. Fr. Jude Oyeakazi; Pst. Frank Ajaero, Group Managing Director of Tangent Architects; Hon. Alex Emeziem; Prof. J. C. Nwokoro; Prof. M. O. Mdugbu; Dr. Chinedu Ihejirika, FUTO ASUU Chairman; High Chief Nazzy Njoku, Project Director of Retool Nigeria and former Imo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA); and Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo, among others.
