The visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Imo State on Tuesday to commission some signature projects of Governor Hope Uzodimma has created excitement among the citizens of the State, even as the State government has dismissed the threats handed down by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday. September 13.
The projects to commission include the newly constructed 35-kilometre Owerri-Orlu road, first phase of Owerri-Okigwe road and the rebuilt Imo State House of Assembly Complex.
Preparations for the visit reached crescendo last Saturday as the government put finishing touches on the visit. However, security arrangement had been perfected.
Addressing journalists on Saturday, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba said that there was no need to panic as proper and adequate arrangement had been done to ensure a absolute security.
According to him, nobody or group can threaten the president of Nigeria and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has all the security apparatchik to his kitty. He, therefore, urged the group to respect the wishes of the people and fall in line with the trends of the time.
He urged the citizens of the State and the presidential entourage to go about their normal business as their security of lives and property are guaranteed.
One of the indigenes of Nkume in Njaba local government, Chief Boniface Onwumere told THISDAY that he was so excited by the governor's giant strides to develop the State. He saluted the governor for fixing the Owerri-Orlu road which had defiled the efforts of previous administrations.
