JUST IN: Police Confirm Hijack Of ABC, GIGM Passenger Buses In Kogi

 


The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that no fewer than 14 passengers have been abducted after armed men reportedly hijacked an ABC and God Is Good Motors (GIGM) transport company vehicles on Saturday.


The two vehicles heading to Abuja from Abia State were reportedly attacked and hijacked in Kogi State. It was gathered that the incident took place on Saturday.


Speaking on Monday, the state’s police spokesperson, Williams Aya, said, “Yes, the incident happened but the DPO, Local Vigilantes and Hunters have been in the bush to rescue the victims.”


Developing reports from the Kogi Police Command revealed that the victims included two passengers from the ABC transport and 12 from the GIGM who were abducted.


Confirming the number of the victims, Aya, said, “God is Good Motors was with 12 Passengers while ABC was with 2 passengers. Meanwhile, the driver of the God is Good, Mr Godwin Oniovosa was later rescued.”


Aya added that the Kogi State Command has deployed additional tactical squad compromising Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, Couter-Terrorism Unit as well as conventional police personnel to the area.


They are “to continue with the bush combing and to ensure all victims are rescued unhurt”, Aya said.
