From local government Chairman to Imo House of Assembly and straight to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Further, the office of National Secretary of the People's Democratic Party( PDP) which, is the main opposition party in Nigeria.
Excellent!
The man has done well. Good trajectory. He also ran for the office of Governor of Imo State. Wonderful walk in a career that resides in a terrain that is highly competitive, such as the South East.
Chief Samuel Anyanwu aka Sam Daddy. He is a native of Amaimo in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State. His father was an Ikeduru politician of note and rose to become the local government party chairman the National Republican Convention( NRC) of Ikeduru at a time. A major second Republic party. So he did not introduce politics in the Anyanwu stable but his parents. Therefore, basking on the family background, he has like been in a familiar terrain. Politics is in his blood, albeit bone marrow. In his sojourn in Ikeduru politics as elected chairman, he put everybody together, including the wealthy and heavyweight late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu( Ahaejiagamba) Ndigbo. Chief Iwuanyanwu later on adopted him as his political son. He gave him all the platforms and enabling enviroments to access and utilise power. That was why it was an easy, access so speak for Sam Daddy to find himself in the Imo House of Assembly and National Assembly.
As a senator, he suavely warmed himself as frontline legislator and got the position of Chairman of the committee on ethics and privileges. With that and as one of the earliest appointments of the eight Senate under the Senate Presidency of Dr. Bukola Saraki, he got working with the leadership of the Senate and the National Assembly as a whole. Behold, he stood his grounds in the Senate and maintained his popularity with his state and his Imo East senatorial constituency. He was like loved as an enfant terrible. He showcased a moving and restless spirit. His colleagues and peers admired him as a lucky man who was sure of his trajectory and propagated it to his personal benefits and to the fullest.
As his star blossomed in all fronts, he had so many ambitions in his hands and head. As a senator, he proposed the bill for the establishment of the South East Development Commission( SEDC). At the end of his first four years, tenure as Senator, he hurriedly jumped into the coveted contest for governorship. He lost the primaries. How i wish that he concentrated on his senate, but he quickly revived his moribund businesses, formed alliances even beyond Imo state, and stretched his phalanges to accept the position of National Secretary of PDP. A big, big office! When the time for gubernatorial elections for Imo off- season election came up in 2023 November, he joined the fray with gusto. He acquired and quarantined the ticket for himself and ran for the office of Governor of Imo State.
And his troubles started!
The sages say too many booths spoil the soup. Sam Daddy's troubles are self, inflicted. I think he would have taken one thing before another. Having many things at the same time can bring up troubles and dim the candle of a brilliant career. That is the fate he is facing today. The stay of execution of the Appeal Court judgement. The appeal at the Supreme Court is a dangerous road strewn with thorns and difficult to thread. The gathering of the eagles of his party against him propelled by his South East, zone is a quick sand situation. May his blossoming star weather this heavy storm.
