Tinubu Sacks Lemchi As VC Alvan Ikoku Federal University Of Education Owerri

 


The federal government has sacked the newly appointed substantive vice chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, (AIFUE), Prof Stella Ngozi Lemchi, less than two week of her appointment.


In a  letter signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade dated February 6, 2025 from the Federal Ministry of Education, an acting vice chancellor in the person of Prof. Onyeka Alloysius Chjioke, a deputy vice chancellor of the K.O. Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, Imo State has been appointed to replace her.


Part of the letter reads "the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa has approved the appointment of Prof. Onyeka Alloysius Chjioke as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri. The appointment which takes effect from February 10, 2025 will last for a maximum period of six months.


"As Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chijoke is tasked with the responsibility to facilitate the process of a substantive vice chancellor before the expiration of his tenure. However, he is not eligible to apply for the position when it is advertised," the letter stated.


Recall that the former Pro-Chancellor of Governing Council of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri, Senator (Dr.) Joy Emodi, CON was also replaced by Senator Sani Stores, who is the new Pro-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education, Owerri.


Now Senator Joy Emodi has been moved as Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.


The appointment of Prof. Lemchi was announced during the 3rd Regular Meeting of the Governing Council on Thursday, January 23, 2025 which was to take immediate effect and it was supposed to be for a non-renewable tenure of five years.

  1. Sometimes you don't know whether to cry, laugh or frown! This country under APC is truly a huge joke. For all I care, what is happening in the ivory towers? What was wrong with Lemchi's appointment? What do you want the poor woman to do now? How can she see everything about this country again? Was she not appointed by the responsible authority? How can we proceed like this? Something is definitely wrong in this part of the world.
