BREAKING: Soludo Sworn In For Second Term As Anambra Governor

 


Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has been officially sworn in for a second term in office.


The inauguration took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Akwa, the state capital. Soludo was sworn in alongside his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.


The ceremony drew prominent dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and several other state governors.


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Soludo the winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.


He polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 99,445 votes. Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party came third with 37,753 votes.


A total of 16 candidates contested the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters in the state, 598,229 were accredited, and 595,298 votes were cast. INEC reported 11,244 rejected votes across the 21 local government areas.


Soludo achieved a clean sweep, winning in all 21 local government areas, cementing his landslide victory and strong mandate for a second term.
