"Total Disaster’ – FG Reacts To Viral Trump Post Criticising Tinubu Over Insecurity In Nigeria

 

The Presidency has reacted to a viral social media post allegedly linked to United States President Donald Trump, which criticised Nigeria’s security situation and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The controversial post spread widely on Tuesday morning. It claimed that Trump described Nigeria’s security situation as a “TOTAL DISASTER.”

It also alleged that Tinubu was away in the United Kingdom on a state visit while deadly attacks, including bombings in Maiduguri, were ongoing.

The message further suggested that the Nigerian leader had failed in his primary duty to protect citizens. It called for urgent steps, including tighter border control and stronger security actions across the country.

Reacting swiftly, the Presidency dismissed the post as false and misleading. Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, described the content as fabricated.

According to him, there is no record of such a statement on any official platform linked to the White House or Trump’s verified social media accounts. He urged Nigerians to be cautious and avoid spreading unverified information.

“This post does not exist on any whitehouse.gov platform or any of President Donald Trump’s social media pages. Verify before you post,” Dare said.

The Presidency warned that fake content like this could create unnecessary tension and mislead the public, especially on sensitive national issues like security.
